The Rose & the Dagger by Renee Ahdieh
What I drank prior:
6ish or maybe 7 beers????
Spoiler-free Overview:
So, this is the second half of the Wrath and the Dawn duology. You can see my review for the first one here. But as this is a sequel there will be spoilers for the first one. So, my lady Shazi, she’s basically taken away from Bae king, by her old Bae. She’s not happy about it. She knows there’s some sort of curse and her newfound awesome power could potentially break it. Things sort of go from there.
Spoiler-free Thoughts: So, look. I read this half drunk for the booziebookathon we did back in july and am only just now getting around to reviewing/posting about it. But from my notes and my continued feels, i can sagely say I love this duology. The second one wasn’t as good, but it did not disappoint.
Characters: Less character development and more plot in this book, but I did love the re-troduction of the magician man. I love these precious babies. Fight me.
Plot: So I remember it being rather slow in the middle, but the plot twists in the beginning and near the end made up for it. Nice little bow. Heartshapped hands.
Writing Style: Gorgeous, as per usual.
What to pair it with: Gotta go with the red wine again, though I was drinking Vodka Redbulls and mimosas…
Rating: 3.5/5 Stars
COMMENT DOWN BELOW: How do you compare this one with the first one? IMHO it doesn’t even compare.
Until next time, we remain forever drunkenly yours,
Sam
