What I drank prior: I’ve had a shit day for a stupid reason so I’ve had a beer and a bottle of wine.

Drunk Overview: this is a series of Arthurian short stories by non-normal voices like people of color and women. They range from past present and future. Gender bent and queer. This is why I waited until Pride to review because it matters. It matters a whole hell of a lot. Especially when it comes to this 100% white story.

Spoiler-free Thoughts: this book was fab. I started taking notes by story but that was tough so… what I’m going to say is this.

If you want a different perspective on the Arthurian legend you should read this. If you want a new way to think about Gwen and her “betrayal” you should read this. If you want a new perspective on Elaine the Mad about how that could possibly be some patriarchal bullshit you should read this. If you want to see what Merlin and Arthur’s love could have been like you should read this.

I loved it and I am very VERY picky when it comes to Arthurians. Just read it

What to pair it with: this is tough. It’s like a Long Island meets a wine flight meets whatever beer is on tap. And I loved it.

Rating: 4.5/5 shots. But only for one story. Just one of the 10+ stories.

Until next time, we remain forever drunkenly yours,
Sam
