What I drank prior: been drinking literally since 11am and it’s 2:40am so I’m fucking hammered. Been hammered for hours. Minda’s here too. Say hi. Hiiiiiiii
The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and pass. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.
Let the Dragon ride again on the winds of time.
The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.
When The Two Rivers is attacked by Trollocs-a savage tribe of half-men, half-beasts- five villagers flee that night into a world they barely imagined, with new dangers waiting in the shadows and in the light.
Drunk Overview: this is the first book of wheel of time and I’ve read all of them so here we are BUT
Rand, Perrin, Mat and friends are just chillin at home in a little village and some scary orc like folk show up and kill every one and there’s an Aes Sedai witch who helps and then they go on a journey and that’s the book
Spoiler-free Thoughts: ok since this is the second time I’ve been through this it’s been interesting seeing the forecasting. Like. I’ve been through this and I’m baffled by the fact that things said in this book tell us what will happen in the last.
Characters: I still love my kids. I still love my husband. Nothing in this book is surprising but it does remind me why I love certain characters. I forgot that I love Egwene because she reminds me of me. I forgot that Mat is my husband because of the snark. I forGOT that Nyneave is like… the most stubborn amazing women I’ve ever read. Perrin and Rand and Moiraine and Lan and the Loial and all of them. I love them.
Plot: I didn’t realize so much happened in hook 1. Honestly. I was sorta mad at what I saw in the show but then I reread the book. I was bad thinking that things in the show were too soon but I was wrong for many things. Mostly the Ways. I thiufbt that was later. It wasn’t. But also. So much happens.
World Building: LOTS OF SHIT and this world is so big and we get a lot but since this was a reread I know what’s to come and I’m stoked.
What to pair it with: book 1 is like a weak shot like a lemon drop. Not for flavor but for punch. It doesn’t get you hammered but it gives you enough of an itch to keep you drinking.
Until next time, we remain forever drunkenly yours,
