DRUNK REVIEW: Legendary by Stephanie Garber

legendary

Legendary by Stephanie Garber

what I drank: HAPPY 4TH OF JULY MURICA (Editor’s Note: I have no idea what she drank, but she was def not sober)

Synopsis: book 2 of caraval, picks up right after book 1 ends. Now Tella is the narrator and shes playing a higher stakes version of caraval with a higher stakes prize.

Non-spoiler feelings

  • did you ever watch west wing where character is are talking talking talking and walking walking walking and it feels fast paced but then, step back, nothing actually happened? That is how I felt about the pace of this book. So fast and yet so little development
  • man Tella is an angry elf
  • a major complaint I had w caraval is it was wildly descriptive and yet I felt I was scratching the surface of what this world really is. I had the same issue here
    1. (Editor’s Note: Yep. Drunk)
  • speaking of description, skmnbo much purple. and blue. so much purple.
  • So Caraval was supposed to be a standalone, but the end was rewritten bc garber got a deal for a sequel, maybe 3 books. so yes it feels off kilter bc we get a whole new spiritual system and new rules – jesus h so many layers of characters’ roles. Caraval actors are also characters who are characters on top of it
  • Scarlett is a sketchhhhhhhh bitch this time

Spoilery

THAT FUCKING ENDING

REALLY. THIS IS HOW WE RESOLVE THE STORY. WE BRING BACK THE COUNT AND ALMOST BRING BACK THE MOM.

50 bucks says tella isnt her daughter

End of spoilers

What I gave it: two invites to caraval that I will not use on book 3

What I pair it w: wine, all of it, just like tella
