Bi-Weekly Wrap-Up: Sept 18 – Oct 1, 2023

Happy Monday, Boozie Book Nerds!

Ginny’s Update

What Ginny Finished:

  • Social chemistry by Marissa King: this is a non fiction that describes how social networks function. It was an interesting books but Im not sure how much Ill take from it.

What Ginny is Currently Reading:

  • Invisible women by Caroline Criado Pèrez: this nonfiction book is about the gender gap in big data and the wat big data often ignores the data they have. This books make me rationally angry and is one of those books I think everyone should read
  • A Day of Fallen Night by Samatha Shannon: this is the prequel to Priory of the Orange Tree and is hard to describe. But I love (most of) the characters and Im finding the way the plot is growing to be really interesting
  • Whem Franny Stands Up by Eden Robins: this book gives of Mrs. Maisel vibes and the general plot is that women comedians have the ability to create showstoppers where they create feelings in the audience, things like rage or feeling like Cindarella. The book is really interesting but maybe not as lighthearted as I had expected.

Sam’s Update

What Sam Finished:

  • Mysteries of Thorn Manor by Margaret Rogerson: this is a novella around Sorcery of Thorns and it was super duper cute.

What Sam is Currently Reading:

  • Curious Tides by Pascale Lacelle: This is magic school (but college) meets moon magic and it’s so good. I love the main characters and I can’t wait to see what happens.
  • The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi by Shannon Chakraborty: this is about a retired pirate being blackmailed out of retirement to find some chick’s granddaughter. Also loving the hell out of this

Until next time, we remain forever drunkenly yours,

— Sam and Ginny
