Blood & Honey by Shelby Mahurin (Serpent & Dove #2)

What I drank prior: this is a weird night for me cause I just finished a fantasy football draft. I’ve had at least a bottle of wine and two shots of vodka but I am 100% mot the most drunk here. I find that weird.
After narrowly escaping death at the hands of the Dames Blanches, Lou, Reid, Coco, and Ansel are on the run from coven, kingdom, and church—fugitives with nowhere to hide.
To elude the scores of witches and throngs of chasseurs at their heels, Lou and Reid need allies. Strong ones. But protection comes at a price, and the group is forced to embark on separate quests to build their forces. As Lou and Reid try to close the widening rift between them, the dastardly Morgane baits them in a lethal game of cat and mouse that threatens to destroy something worth more than any coven.
The hotly anticipated sequel to the New York Times and IndieBound bestseller Serpent & Dove—packed with even steamier romance and darker magic—is perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas.
Drunk Overview: this is the sequel to Serpent & Dove – a book i did NOT enjoy and you can see the review here. So if you haven’t read the first one, you’re gonna get spoiled. Sucks to suck. Basically Lou and Reid are married, on the run, and tryna figure out magic. This book is literally just walking. And I know this is a spoiler, but the walking is literally a circle. They go out of the city and then go right back it makes literally no sense.
Spoiler-free Thoughts: ok this is ridiculous. I listened on audio just like the last one and I could not follow it for the life of me. I’m going to read the third one because I feel like these make good drunk reviews, but damn are they bad.
Characters: The only part about the first one that i enjoyed was the banter between Lou and Reid, and we 100% don’t get that here. They have a squad of folks with them, but i couldn’t tell you their names and that’s not because i read this a while ago, it’s because they don’t matter and they’re all the same. There are parents involved on both sides, but weirdly they don’t matter either!
Plot: OH MY GOD i cannot believe. That they do all this walking and then they go right bac to where they were, like, the hell was this book for? I don’t even feel like that’s a spoiler because i’m not telling you why or what happens when they’re walking but JESUS H CHRIST just… what the hell was this book for?!
Writing Style: Snooze fest
World Building: There was like one element that was new that was added but it didn’t matter and it has to do with werewolves.
What to pair it with: mango seltzer, the literal worst one
Until next time, we remain forever drunkenly yours,
