How We Started This:

So… you guys know that we are a buncha drunken fools who love books. So, we all went to our first BookCon in Chicago, and thought, hey…. we should start a blog! But we wanted a blog that was unique and would be fun for us. We thought combining our two favorite things would work for us! We all get together, get hammert, and then write book reviews of the recent books we’ve read. Kinda took off from there. There are 3 main contributors, Me, Ginny, and Parker. We write mostly here and I run the Twitter (@willread4booze). Plus, our lovely ladies who run our IG (@Willreadforbooze) Linz and Alena. And lastly (but most certainly not least), Dana, who loves to write drunk reviews after our late night escapades.

Advice:

  1. So, my big thing is that Blogging is a hobby, not a job. We got to the point where we had so many books we had to read for review, that we didn’t get to read what we wanted to. Fortunately, there are a bunch of us, so we (read: I) distributed the work. Not sure I could have done it all on my own. My advice is: don’t let blogging “obligations” ruin the fun. We’ve stopped requesting so many ARCs. We’re writing about what we want to write about. We do a bunch all at once so we can leave it alone for a little while and schedule them out. We’ve all got full time jobs, full time social lives, and we LOVE to read. We don’t want this to add stress, we want it to be fun!
  2. Along those lines, when we first started, we got all excited about the advanced copies that we got. It got overwhelming. My advice would be to stagger release dates for ARCs. At one point we had 12 ARCs to read in one month. That was WAY too much. Now, before I request anything, I look at the release date, and see what other ARCs we have. If we already have 1-2 that month, I won’t request it.
