Deep Shadow by Nick Sullivan

Spoiler-free Overview: SO there’s this guy named Boone, he’s a scuba instructor, and when he and his friend Emily go on a free dive they see a SUBMARINE!!! Turns out this sub is sketchy as fuck and the adventure goes from there.

Spoiler-free Thoughts: so… Nick will tell you… when he pitched Caribbean I thought pirates. It’s not pirates. At. All. SO sucky start but you know what? Didn’t care. At all. This story was great. He very clearly knows his shit about these particular islands and his passion shows through the page. He made me want to do all the scuba things, and learn my shit about submarines.

Characters: Boone and Emily were the perfect pair.  They had chemistry on the page. Boone.. this poor guy is madly in like with his work partner… thinking she has a bf the whole time. I felt it hard to get to know Emily… but to be fair… I have no idea what’s going on in her noggin, i still loved their banter. I loved them a lot. The other guys on the Sub? (Not saying who cause spoilers) they were less relatable for obvious reasons (again, read the book to find out).

Plot: Kept me on my toes! As an honest reviewer, I think there are some things that could have been better but I can’t complain cause I still loved it.

Writing Style: Hysterical. I just loved it. Similar to Zombie Bigfoot very satirical. I loved it.

What to pair it with: so he says Caribbean Lagers or Rum… and you know what? I agree whole heartedly.
