The Disappearance of Winter’s Daughter by Michael J. Sullivan
What I drank prior: hahahahahahahahahahahaha idk. for real, i have no idea. what day is it?!
Spoiler-free Overview: This is more Royce and Hadrian Candy. For those of you who haven’t read The Riyria Revelations or Chronicles you are SERIOUSLY missing out. My babies Hadrian and Royce were ya know… doin their thing, and some guy comes up and is like “i want you to go to this town and kill literally everyone. or get my daughter back. one or the other. but heads should roll” Royce is like YES I CAN KILL PEOPLE, Hadrian is all YESS I CAN SAVE A DAMSEL. And the story goes from there.
Spoiler-free Thoughts: Guys I think this is my fave of the Chronicles. Like, the purpose of book 1 was “here’s how they meet”; book 2 “haaaaave you met Gwen?”; book 3 “time to get used to this i guess”; and this one…. “we’re pretty damn good at this so let’s get shit done” The banter was amazing as per usual, but this time, he introduces two new lovely ladies who i fucking adore, Evelyn and Genny.
Characters: I mean, if you don’t already know that Royce and Hadrian are my favorite literary children and baes then…. well… now you know. Just. MY HEART. Also, the two new ladies are amazing. Truly and simply amazing. ALSO, he addresses racism and class wars and shit and just so well i love it.
Plot: I really liked this particular adventure. The ending was wonderful.
Writing Style: As usual, the banter is teh best thing i’ve ever read. literally. they make me LOL.
World Building: in my head the world is already built, but i LOVE learning more. So much.
What to pair it with: All of the alcoholz. Idk, it’s amazing, there’s something for everyone. drinkin vodka sodas right now so lets go with that.
Rating: 5/5 Shots OBVI
COMMENT DOWN BELOW: WHO ELSE LOVES MY BABIES?!
Until next time, we remain forever drunkenly yours,
Sam
