Happy Monday, Boozie Book Nerds!
Ginny’s Update
What Ginny Finished:

- Best Served Hot by Amanda Eliot: Julie confronts the new reviewer at a bougie place and posts the video which drums up interest. Because of that, she and the reviewer have to collaborate on some stories. There were things I really liked and didn’t like about this book. But I will say it showed a lot of character growth from a lot of different people!
- Rogue Protocol by Martha Wells: This was available from the library as an audio book and I just love the Murderbot series. Murderbot is continuing its investigative work and becomes the bodyguard for a small team and their robot (which is treated basically as human). This is such a comfort read and Kevin R. Free does a great job reading it.
- Exit Strategy by Martha Wells: This is the forth novella in the murderbot series where Murderbot finally has to see Dr. Mensa again, because it’s gathered all this evidence. I really love the growth in this book in the way everyone communicates. And the ending makes me so happy!
What Ginny is Currently Reading:

- Oathbound by Mercedes Lackey: This is set in the same universe as the Valdemaar series I recently read. This book follows Tarma (a warrior) and Kethry (a mage) as they figure out what they need to do to rebuild Tarma’s decimated clan. Also they’re bound together by a goddess and just generally seem to have really fun adventures. I’m a fan.
- The Stone Sky by N.K. Jemisin: This is the third book in the Broken Earthtrilogy and I can’t say much more than this. I started this book and got hit by something. I spent 18 hours sleeping on Saturday… And my brain can’t focus enough to actually read right now.
Sam’s Update
What Sam is Finished:

- The Merciless Ones by Namina Forna – this is the second book in the gilded ones series and this one wasn’t quite as good as the first but the twist at the end was great. It was a long time coming so it wasn’t huge at the time but felt like pieces were coming together.
- Stardust in their Veins by Laura Sebastian – this is the second book in this series and I am loving it. Book one is about 3 triplets who get sent to marry future kings of the neighboring kingdoms by their mother so that she can take over. I loved this. So so much.
What Sam is Currently Reading:

- That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon by Kimberly Lemming: I have been waiting to read this for a while for the title alone. From what I can tell, our leading lady Cinnamon was in her way home from a bar and knocks this demon out of his stupor and saves him. He threatened her family so now they’re going on a journey to rid the world of a witch. I’m in
- Cooking at Home: Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying About Recipes by David Chang and Priya Krishna – I read a review online that said this book is meant to be read cover to cover like a novel… so that’s what I’m doing and it’s actually fab. It helps that they’re talking a lot about Asian flavors (naturally) and I’ve been dying to learn more about those flavor profiles.
Until next time, we remain forever drunkenly yours,
— Sam, Minda, and Ginny
