A Blight if Blackwings by Kevin Hearne (Seven Kennings #2)

What I drank prior: what haven’t i had today? I’ve had at least a bottle and a half of wine if not two… literally if anyone judges me I’ll… idk block them? I won’t block them,.

Goodreads Overview:

From the New York Times bestselling creator of The Iron Druid Chronicles comes the story of a world-breaking war–an invasion of giant warriors–that inspires a movement to fight back.

Daryck is from a city that was devastated by the war with the Bone Giants, and now he and a band of warriors seek revenge against the giants for the loved ones they lost. But will vengeance be enough to salve their grief?

Hanima is part of a new generation with extraordinary magical talents: She can speak to fantastical animals. But when this gift becomes a threat to the powers-that-be, Hanima becomes the leader of a movement to use this magic to bring power to the people.

Koesha is the captain of an all-female crew on a perilous voyage to explore unknown waters. Though Koesha’s crew is seeking a path around the globe, Koesha is also looking for her sister, lost at sea two years ago. But what lies beyond the edges of the map is far more dangerous than storms and sea monsters. . . .

In this sequel to A Plague of Giants, these characters and more will become the voices of a new generation bringing hope and revolution to a war-torn world.

Drunk Overview: ok to this is the second book of the series and from what we know so far is that there are scary people trying to take over (the bone giants) and our lovely has found the next kenning of animals and they’re tryna figure out what’s up. Also…. What the hell man… what are they supposed to do. There’s a chick who does fire stuff who’s tryna create a new government, There’s another who’s new to the animal kenning and there’s also something else i can’t remember

Spoiler-free Thoughts: man i wish i remembered more of this, but i just don’t

Characters: so again, I don’t remember much but from what I do remember its the characters. There’s Abhi, who’s still my precious precious son. And there’s the new ones, there’s the hive mistress who’s doing her best not to get caught while also trying to welcome her new flock of people. There’s also the daughter of the fire lord from the previous book who is just the most badass ever wanting to create a new government built on equality and justice. And the spy who was not a spy. Last but certainly not least is Fintan… AKA the Bard AKA the most unreliable narrator. Which probs the BEST PART about this book.

Plot: the one bit about this book that was a bummer was the plot. There were so many POVs that you didn’t get a lot from any of them. They were just in short bursts.

Writing Style: Thesebooks are hysterical and i fuckin lov it

World Building: Just building upon what the last book was building up to. I cannot wait to kick some bone giant ass though.

What to pair it with: This is like white wine. It’s tasty but it’s tough to remember the details.

Rating: 3/5
