Waiter Rant by Steve Dublanika
What I drank prior: mmmmm Rose. I’m still on a pink wine kick. Just got back fron a vacation and had a fun night with my sister.
Spoiler-free Overview: In the eternal words of one of those car games you learn as a kid “Okay, so” this book is one od those blog turned books and this one is about being a waiter in a high end restaurant.
Spoiler-free Thoughts: Lol what spoilers could there be. It’s nonfiction and the author spends a lot of time wondering if hes gonna manage to write a book. HMMM I wonder if he succeeds? I guess we will never know.
Characters: Apparently everyone in this book is real. and I guess that mak3s sense. Everyone in this book is that special brand of petty that I feel is only found in real life. The narrator acts very high and mighty until they try to explain how they actually are high and mighty. If you want a book to makr you feel good about humanity, I might tell you to pass.
Plot: The only realy plot in this book is whether or not the author is going to actually write a book. Otherwise stories are told out of order. The stories themselves can be interesting, but tend to meander a little bit. I think I would have enjoyed just normal stories without the vein of “Ive done this for forever but now I’m trying to figure out what my life will be l, aspect of things l.
Writing Style: It’s obvious this was a blog before it was a book. The writing style is very informal and is cut to the length of a piece you would be happy to read while wasting time waiting for a ride to somewhere
World Building: It’s a real world out there, not much to build.
What to pair it with: Martini, this is apparently the drink of choice in the biz.
Rating: 3 out of 5 shots
