Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel
What I drank prior: so i had 5 or so reviews to write tonight so i figured a bottle of wine ouwld do it. but here’s my problem… i forgot to eat so… i’m hammert.
Spoiler-free Overview: so basically all of a sudden humans start finding these fiant robot parts that *somewhat* resemple (editor’s note: i tend to mess up my b’s and p’s) humanoids. they tryna figure out why… problem is.. they are geographically disbursed and that causes some… international problems.. it’s pretty interesting actually.
Spoiler-free Thoughts: so… i used to work International Affairs Policy so it’s actually kind of interesting seeing this in some sort of sci-fi way. I audio’d this and it was AWESOME.
Characters: Honestly? I was most interested in Rose. I felt the most connected to her. Also one of these humans does something relaly terrible to another human and it was awful. (trying not to spoil) anyway they were great. The audio had different narrators for diff characters which made it easier to relate i think…
Plot: super duper slow burn but also, it was more about the mystery of what these things actually are than making some fast-paced plot which i thoroughly enjoyed.
Writing Style: you mean…. audio style? eh? eh? no but really i loved it.
World Building: I need more. I need to know why.
What to pair it with: this is so hard. probably just a vodka soda cause it helps everything (psychologically) and doesn’t need your crap about it.
Rating: 4/5 shots
Until next time, we remain forever drunkenly yours,
Sam
Great review! I recently finished Waking Gods it was just as good. I hope you enjoy it when you get around to it.

Yes, this book was such a slow burn. Maybe I should try the second on audio.
